Disaster Relief Assistance

COVID-19 EMERGENCY FINANCIAL RELIEF:

The COVID-19 Emergency Financial Relief Program was created to provide financial assistance to Hardee County residents who are experiencing a financial setback due to loss of their job, significant loss of hours, or have an increased financial burden as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Priority will be given to households that do not qualify for federal and state assistance. Assistances granted between April 6 - 30 will be directed to utility services. Any changes to the type of funded services, and the availability of funding will be updated on this page.

  • Pick up an application at the front door at 713 E. Bay Street, Wauchula, FL 33873, or

  • Submit the on-line application on this page. 

What You'll Need:

  • Photo Identification

  • Social Security Numbers for all Household Members

  • Birth Certificates for Children

  • Bank Statement for last 30 Days

  • Lease

  • Utility Bill

  • Reemployment Assistance Verification

  • Loss of Job or Hours (Employer's Contact Information)

Though our Client Welcome Center is closed, we will be available by phone and email. Appointments will be scheduled on a case-by-case basis, until further notice.

 

COVID-19 EMERGENCY FOOD RELIEF:

Grab-and-Go food assistance for families: In place of our regular Crisis Food Program, we have temporarily replaced it with our Relief Food Program. These are pre-made Grab-and-Go Food Boxes made up of shelf-stable food items.

Food assistance for older adult clients: The Hardee Help Center’s older adult clients at Forest Glade Apartment complex have received shelf stable food, in addition to fresh produce, this week. We will contact them weekly to complete a wellness check, and continue to provide grocery supplements once a month.

 

Assistance for older adult non-clients: With the help of volunteers, we have visited and assessed the older adults in the Chatham Pointe Apartment complex. Wellness check calls will be made to those who do not have a neighbor, friend, or family member to offer help.
